7th Birthday Planning

My baby is turning seven tomorrow!  Every year on both of my son's birthdays I get sad.  While I love to see them grow, it breaks my heart to see them change into big boys.  Luckily I can still kiss their whole faces without too much complaining.

My husband and I both have lots of family close by so we try to stick to low-key, family only parties, which my boys are more than okay with as neither is a big fan of being the center of attention.  Here is how we plan to celebrate our littlest's 7th birthday.

Kitchen To-Dos

So this was the kitchen to-dos I put together a month or so ago.  I put up some Melted Ice Cream by Benjamin Moore to match the connected living room, but the colors are a little off.  Oh well.  Instead of a beveled subway tile backsplash, we got some pretty handmade subway tile that fit the rustic style of our house a little better and a lighter silver grout.  And now for the lighting from Barnyard Electric?  I changed my mind about that too.  Instead I'm now feeling this beauty from Schoolhouse Electric.  So what's the moral of the story?  I'm a little indecisive, but luckily I have a very patient and understanding husband. :)

Mainely Monday: This and That

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend.  The Easter bunny was great to us and we finally had some great weather here in Maine for church followed by lots of food with our extended fam.

Today I thought I would share a few Maine related things I'm enjoying at the moment.  First off is this 23 Signs You were Born and Raised in Maine article.  The last four are my favorite.  I'm proud to say that unlike a lot of Maine girls I do not own any Carthartt clothing (although my husband has his fair share) and I don't drink coffee brandy... ever.  I am not above Orloff though and I love red hot dogs. :)

This amazing heart-shaped island off the coast of Maine is back on the market.  With a price tag of a measly $1.275 million, I think it would make for a great anniversary present despite the many strings that come attached to it.

My family and I stayed at Point Lookout Resort last weekend.  They have the cutest cabins at the most ridiculously low off-season rates.  My kids enjoy the arcade and I absolutely love shopping in Camden so it's a total win-win.

I have the week off to hang with my boys while they are on April vacation so I'm very excited.  Have a wonderful Monday!

Dear Easter Bunny...

1 || 2 || 3 || 4 || 5 || 6

So I don't know about you, but ever since I had children the Easter bunny has totally been blowing me off.  Has this happened to you?  So Easter bunny, this is what I want.  Instead of a cheap plastic, please feel free to stuff it all in this adorable Sea Bags for J. Crew tote.  Toss in some Maine made wine, chocolate and a candle.  An Easter Lily to truly celebrate would also be greatly appreciated.  And oh yeah, don't forget the Cadbury eggs because those things are to die for!

Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Mainely Monday: Easter Must Haves

Easter is one of my favorite holidays.  There is no need to purchase loads and loads of gifts and it celebrates the greatest event ever.  My kids are just as keen on the holiday.  Here are some of my must haves for every Easter.

This amazing Sea Bags Limited Edition Chevron Bucket Bag is a perfect Easter basket especially for a Maine kid.  It's not only made of recycled sails, but stores easily (unlike your typical Easter basket) and can be used year round. Chocolate goodies are a necessity for all Easter baskets and this Wilbur's of Maine chocolate bunny comes in milk, dark and white chocolate (or you can just buy all three!).  What's an Easter basket without a toy or two?  A Maine made buoy bat is a great springtime toy that all kiddos (and grownups) will enjoy.  Check out your local hardware/farm supply store for baby chicks, ducks, lambs, etc.  Bring your kids and just try to leave without one.  I dare you.

Happy Monday!

Weekend Wrap-up

This weekend was crazy busy to say the least, but here are a few peeks at how we spent it.  We spent the night in Camden and went out to eat at Cuzzy's Friday night followed by some shopping downtown on Saturday where I fell in love with this $900 lamp at Once a Tree.  After church we ran into another church's parade which was absolutely amazing.  We attempted to start the backsplash that has been on our to-do list for years and apparently will be chipping away at it this week.  What did you do this weekend?

Lust List

While things have been insane at work this week, I still have found time to do a little online shopping (don't ask about showering ;).  When you're stressed to the max, there is nothing like a little (online) retail therapy to make you relax.  Here are the things I am lusting over this week...
